WKC NEWS UPDATE

AKC Judge Gregg Caliendo, who is disabled when it comes to walking, was slowly making his way to the photographer's set-up for Group and Best In Show photos at last summer's shows. Please note Mr. Caliendo's cane (and hat) in his left hand, waving as he hollered, "I'm coming!" WKC member Sandy Patterson, who is confined to her speedy motorized wheelchair, came along and invited him to hop aboard. It was so hilarious that Kim Booth snapped a picture. It has taken this long to arrive at the web master's house. Enjoy, because it was a joyful moment!
*Conformation classes will be in the Arena Building through March, except February 10 & 17, when we will be in the East Hall. For the revised Training Class schedule, see the CLasses page.
*AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program: Classes for puppies under 1 year of age (mixed breeds welcome) offers 6 weeks of training to help dog owners get their puppies off to a good start. Waukesha Kennel Club will be offering 3 sessions in 2010. There will be six weeks of training and one week devoted to taking the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test. Classes are scheduled with the following start dates: February 10, 2010, April 14, 2010 and September 22, 2010. We encourage breeders selling puppies to individuals that reside within driving distance of Waukesha Exposition Center recommend the program to their puppy buyers. Interested parties should contact Barbara Curry (262.363.7385 or BarbaraACurry@centurytel.net) for information and an application. Classes are limited to 10 puppies.
*Waukesha Kennel Club's annual AKC Sanctioned B-OB Match will be held February 13, 2010 at Expo. The Premium List can be accessed on the B-OB Match page. In addition we will be offering a CGC Test (Canine Good Citizen) for those who wish to obtain the CGC title for their dog. Some therapy dog groups require passing the CGC Test as a prerequisite, some insurance companies recommend CGC training, and an increasing number of apartments and condos are requiring CGC training for resident dogs. The test will be held at 1:00 PM and is limited to 25 dogs. Pre-registration is recommended. Contact Barbara Curry for more information.
*High School Seniors looking
for college scholarships—our revised scholarship application for scholarships to
be awarded in the spring of 2010 is now available on the About Us page under the
Scholarship heading.
The Waukesha Kennel Club,
Inc. is located in southeastern Wisconsin, west of Milwaukee. We hold the
largest dog show in Wisconsin, both in size of entry and size of the show site.
The club is well known in
the area for conformation training classes and a Breeders' Directory that is
available with a toll-free 24-hour answering service. We also take pride in our
generosity, as in it's 40+ years of existence, the Waukesha Kennel Club, Inc.
has donated thousands of dollars to aid various dog-related organizations.
The complete Breeders' Directory, which is printed yearly and distributed in
late July, is divided up onto the following pages:
Directory Info (Information), Breeders' Directory (List of Breeders), Services
(Grooming, Boarding Kennels, Pet Supplies, Veterinary Service,
Pet Travel Agency), Obedience Training (located on the bottom of
the Classes page)
and Breed Rescue.
